COYOTE CASITA
Dream it.
It started as a dream! A literal dream. And then AirBNB held a design competition seeking strange proposals. And they liked my dream. So I won (one of 100 winning designs) and they gave me some money (some) to build it. And I built it. And so now it is here, in Arroyo Hondo, NM, near Taos. A stones throw (a great throw) from the Rio Grande River. And you can stay here!
Build it.
I was not a sculptor when I began constructing Coyote Casita. I had a hope that I would, day by day, learn to love the process— the slow and calculated preparation in service of a final form that contained within it, beside 30 tons of concrete, and hundreds of sticks (that what you call them, the 20 foot sections in which they are sold) of rebar, the blood and sweat (gallons of both) of fierce determination. I did not learn to love it. I did, however, learn to respect it, and recognize the science and art of building a structure of this size. And I look forward to future projects.
